2026-08-19perf(shirabe): use mimalloc as the global allocatornsfisis
Profiling `create-project` showed glibc malloc/free accounting for about 41% of samples: the work is dominated by a very large number of small, short-lived allocations, mostly from decoding repository JSON into PhpMixed. `create-project laravel/laravel`, offline against a warmed cache, all three variants measured in one hyperfine run (8 runs each, identical composer.lock): glibc 3.633 s +- 0.023 (user 3.580 s, sys 2.255 s) mimalloc 3.096 s +- 0.054 (user 3.004 s, sys 2.315 s) -14.8% jemalloc 3.177 s +- 0.028 (user 3.136 s, sys 2.285 s) -12.5% The gain is entirely in user time; system time is unchanged, so the extraction and file-writing half of the run is unaffected. Peak RSS drops slightly, from 267 MB to 257 MB. mimalloc wins over jemalloc and, unlike jemalloc, needs no C build of its own at every profile. The allocator is declared in the library rather than in `main.rs` so that the test and benchmark binaries, which link this crate but not `main.rs`, run against the allocator the binary ships with. 2026-08-15feat(cli): report Shirabe's own identity instead of Composer'snsfisis
The binary called itself Composer everywhere: the application name, the logo, --version, about, and every warning that talks about the running program. Prompts to file a bug also pointed at Composer's issue tracker. Add SHIRABE_VERSION and SHIRABE_RELEASE_DATE next to the Composer version constants and report those, naming the Composer version this port tracks alongside them. Composer::VERSION and getVersion() are untouched, so the composer platform package, composer-runtime-api and the HTTP User-Agent keep the value plugins and package repositories expect. build.rs stamps the release date with the UTC date of the HEAD commit, the way Composer's Compiler fills in @release_date@ when building the phar. It now also fails the build when git cannot be read, instead of letting COMPOSER_DEV_WARNING_TIME fall back to the tagged-release value and suppress the outdated-build warning forever. Messages about the Composer ecosystem keep their wording. Two of them are pinned by upstream installer fixtures (Rule's "cannot be modified by Composer" and SolverProblemsException's "you can run Composer with") and stay as they are so those fixtures can keep being used verbatim. The e2e list comparison against upstream Composer now skips the banner, which cannot match by design, and compares everything below it as before. 2026-08-11feat(signal): abort on SIGINT, SIGTERM and SIGHUP at checkpointsnsfisis
The SignalHandler port was a no-op stub, so all four of Composer's abort paths were dead code: nothing removed a half-created project, reverted composer.json, or cleaned up half-installed packages. Composer runs those handlers from pcntl callbacks, which a Rust signal handler cannot do -- it may touch nothing beyond atomics. SignalSubscription records the signal instead, and the abort runs from checkpoints on the normal call stack, where the clean-up can borrow the state it needs. That also resolves the closure-capture TODO(phase-c)s in RequireCommand and InstallationManager, and replaces exit_with_last_signal's exit(0) with the restore-and-re-raise Seld\Signal does. A subscription is live only inside the four abort regions, so elsewhere the signals keep their default disposition and kill the process at once. It is installed without SA_RESTART so a signal interrupts an interactive prompt rather than resuming the read. A signal reaches only the innermost subscription, reproducing SignalHandler's single-stack dispatch. Drop SignalRegistry, SignalableCommandInterface and the Application wiring for them: nothing in Composer reaches that path, and SignalHandler discards whatever they register. Signal handling from plugins and scripts is undefined behavior; see docs/dev/signals.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
2026-08-10refactor(symfony): hide leaf modules behind their parent re-exportsnsfisis
Every parent module in the symfony-* crates already re-exported its leaf modules with `pub use`, so each item was reachable by two paths. Make the leaf modules private and route all callers through the single re-exported path. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
2026-08-09refactor(symfony-console): extract symfony/console into the ↵nsfisis
shirabe-symfony-console crate Move `Symfony\Component\Console` out of shirabe-external-packages and into its own crate, so the path is `shirabe_symfony_console::application::Application` instead of `shirabe_external_packages::symfony::console::application::Application`. The `delegate_to_inner!` and `delegate_command_trait_impls_to_inner!` macros move with it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
2026-08-09test(cli): drop the CLI smoke testsnsfisis
These smoke tests only checked that `<cmd> --help` exited cleanly and that running each command did not panic. The Composer-derived test suite now covers the same commands with real assertions, so the smoke tests no longer add anything. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
2026-08-09refactor(installed-versions): drop the Rust port, which has no readersnsfisis
InstalledVersions is a runtime API for plugins and project code; Composer itself never reads it. Its consumers run in the PHP worker against the copy FilesystemRepository dumps to vendor/composer/InstalledVersions.php, whose static state is already kept in sync by __shirabe_installed_versions_reload. Nothing in Rust read the mirrored statics, so reload() and the reflection setters were no-ops. The tests covered only the Rust port, not the PHP class the worker loads, so they assert nothing about compatibility; they are left as todo!() skeletons. This also removes the shim functions method_exists, php_dir and require_php_file, whose only caller was the deleted module. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
2026-07-20fix(diagnose-command): stop holding a Config borrow across http callsnsfisis
execute() held &config.borrow() across check_http/check_composer_repo/ check_composer_audit, which reach HttpDownloader -> CurlDownloader:: download; that method does self.config.borrow_mut() on the same Config RefCell, panicking with "RefCell already borrowed" once the phpinfo panic that previously masked this was fixed. Switch those three helpers to take the Rc<RefCell<Config>> handle (matching check_version's existing pattern) and borrow only where a field is actually read, so no borrow spans the downstream network call. Un-ignore the now-passing run_diagnose smoke test and test_cmd_fail; test_cmd_success stays ignored, now for two separate reasons: it needs real network access (as the PHP original does), and shirabe_php_shim::OPENSSL_VERSION_NUMBER is a hardcoded stub (0) that always trips check_platform's TLSv1.1/1.2 support check regardless of the real linked OpenSSL, forcing a non-zero exit code.
2026-07-20feat(php-rpc): implement phpinfo() capture over RPCnsfisis
DiagnoseCommand::check_platform needed phpinfo() output but shirabe-php-shim's ob_start()/phpinfo()/ob_get_clean() are unmodeled todo!()s. Add a phpinfo dispatch entry to the PHP worker (capturing output the same way extension_info already does) and a get_phpinfo() wrapper, then switch check_platform to call it directly. This unblocks the phpinfo-related panic in diagnose; the ignored tests now hit a separate RefCell double-borrow bug in check_http, so their ignore reasons are updated to point at that instead.
2026-07-20test(cli-tests): detail run_diagnose ignore reasonnsfisis
Measured the actual panic site: DiagnoseCommand::check_platform reaches the todo!() ob_start()/ob_get_clean() shims while capturing phpinfo(), the same root cause already recorded in tests/command/diagnose_command_test.rs. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
2026-07-20fix(require-command): drop input borrows before determine_requirementsnsfisis
The Ref temporaries created by input.borrow() inside the argument expressions of the determine_requirements call lived until the end of the whole call statement, so ConsoleIO::ask_question's borrow_mut() on the same shared input RefCell panicked with "RefCell already borrowed" when the command prompted for packages. Hoist the argument computations into locals so no borrow is held across the call, and un-ignore the run_require CLI test. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
2026-06-27refactor(main): minor refactoringnsfisis
2026-06-26test(cli): force --no-interaction so init does not hang under a TTYnsfisis
The cli_tests suite runs the real CLI; under a TTY Composer's do_run logic keeps interaction enabled, so `init` blocks on stdin. Holding the #[serial] mutex while blocked made later tests (e.g. audit) appear to time out. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
2026-06-26test(cli): un-ignore archive/browse/clear-cache/init smoke testsnsfisis
These no-longer-panic after the table/command chokepoint fixes; diagnose and require still panic and stay ignored. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
2026-06-22test(cli): serialize cli_tests via serial_testnsfisis
Replace the hand-rolled `SERIAL` mutex guarding process-global env access with serial_test's `#[serial]` attribute on each test. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>
2026-06-22refactor(console): introduce ApplicationHandle shared-ownership newtypensfisis
Collapse the dual Application API (static methods taking `&Rc<RefCell<Application>>` plus `&mut self` bridges via `shared()`) into a single handle type `ApplicationHandle(Rc<RefCell<Application>>)`, mirroring the Composer handle pattern. Methods that invoke command callbacks (add, run, do_run, base_run, base_do_run, do_run_command, add_commands, init) move to `impl ApplicationHandle` with short-scoped borrows; data-only methods and `impl BaseApplication` stay on `Application`. `shared()` now returns the handle, and `new_shared`/`init_shared` fold into `ApplicationHandle::new`/`init`. 2026-06-21test: add empty test filesnsfisis
2026-06-19test(command): add basic smoke testsnsfisis
2026-06-11chore(compiler): drop compiler.rsnsfisis
The Compiler.php is PHP-tooling only (bin/compile) with no Rust equivalent, so it is not ported. Remove the compiler module along with the symbols used solely by it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>
2026-05-22refactor(composer): unify Composer/PartialComposer via Rc handlesnsfisis
Model PHP's `Composer extends PartialComposer` as a PartialOrFullComposer enum and merge partial_composer.rs into composer.rs. Introduce ComposerHandle / PartialComposerHandle (plus their Weak variants) so the graph can be shared, and build it at once with Rc::new_cyclic in the factory to resolve the back-reference cycles.
