file_get_contents() and file_get_contents_with_max_length() return
Vec<u8> instead of a from_utf8_lossy'd String.
Call sites whose consumer takes a &str still convert lossily and are
marked TODO(bytes).
file_get_contents_with_max_length() now reads at most the requested
number of bytes instead of the whole file.

PHP resolves a link kind through `$package->{'get'.ucfirst($linkType)}()`,
so the argument is a `Link::$TYPES` value ("requires", "devRequires", ...).
The helper matched the composer.json key names ("require", "require-dev",
...) instead, so every caller passing a `Link::TYPE_*` constant got an empty
map back: `show <package>` printed none of its requires/provides/conflicts/
replaces sections, and `--format=json` carried none of those keys.
The two callers that were passing composer.json keys now pass the matching
`method`, as PHP does.
|
|
Messages that instruct the user to run a command named the Composer
binary. Shirabe ships as its own binary, so the hints now name it.
File names (composer.json, composer.lock), the "composer" repository
type and prose about Composer itself are untouched. The installer and
functional integration fixtures live in the Composer submodule and
cannot be edited, so their expected output is normalized on load.

PackageInterface::getRequires() and friends return the array of Link objects;
in PHP that is a copy-on-write array of object references, so a caller pays
nothing to look at it. The port returned IndexMap<String, Link> by value, so
every call deep-cloned the whole map, keys and constraints included. Pool
building calls these accessors once per package per candidate, which put
IndexMap::clone at 13.5% of `require laravel/laravel`.
Store the maps as Rc<IndexMap<String, Link>> and return a handle. Callers that
mutate the map clone it explicitly at the point of mutation, matching where PHP
would separate the array.

MetadataMinifier::expand now returns ExpandedVersions, which holds the
minified input plus, for each expanded version, a table of references to
where its fields live. A version is copied only when materialize() asks
for it. ComposerRepository::load_async_packages runs its constraint and
stability filters straight off that view through the new VersionFields
trait, so the versions it rejects are never copied at all.
Benchmarks are new under crates/shirabe/benches. load_packages against
real packagist p2 metadata, before -> after:
symfony/console (768 versions)
0 accepted 9.01 ms -> 4.40 ms -51%
50 accepted 10.70 ms -> 6.30 ms -41%
147 accepted 13.17 ms -> 9.62 ms -27%
329 accepted 18.58 ms -> 16.89 ms -9%
663 accepted 27.27 ms -> 27.89 ms +2%
laravel/framework (1277 versions)
0 accepted 39.44 ms -> 11.22 ms -72%
81 accepted 44.76 ms -> 18.25 ms -59%
840 accepted 125.44 ms -> 120.12 ms -4%
1266 accepted 163.18 ms -> 182.01 ms +12%
The crossover sits near 80% acceptance. Past it the view loses, because
materialize rebuilds a map where the old code cloned one, and the
minified input stays alive alongside the copies; the 1266-of-1277 case
measured between +5% and +12% across runs. Loads with a real constraint
sit far below the crossover.

`ProcessExecutor::execute_args` existed only to turn `execute`'s
`anyhow::Result` into an exit code of 1, so every one of its ~87 call
sites silently took the "command failed" branch on an error PHP would
have thrown. It is gone; callers use `execute` and propagate with `?`.
Where the enclosing function had no `Result` to propagate into, its
signature grew one, up to and including `Git::get_version`,
`Svn::binary_version`, `GitHub`/`GitLab`/`Bitbucket::authorize_oauth`,
`InitCommand::get_git_config` and `DiagnoseCommand::check_git`.
The VCS drivers had the same problem in the other direction: their
`get_contents` returned `Result<Response, Box<TransportException>>`, a
type too narrow for the PHP method, which lets any Throwable out of the
`catch (TransportException $e)` block. Every non-transport error was
therefore rewritten into a `TransportException` with code 0, which the
callers switch on. They now return
`anyhow::Result<Result<Response, Box<TransportException>>>`: the outer
`Result` carries what PHP does not catch, the inner one the exception
the drivers handle.
That signature also restores `GitLabDriver::getContents`: the 400/401
`TransportException`s it raises to force authentication are thrown
inside its own `try` block and handled by its own `catch`, but the port
returned them straight to the caller, so the authentication flow behind
them never ran.
`impl_php_exception!` gains `From<Box<$ty>> for anyhow::Error` so a
caught exception can be re-propagated with `?`.

Commands were carried as `PhpMixed`, whose `String`/`List` variants do
not tell a shell command line apart from an argv list at the type level.
`Perforce::execute_command` and `Git::run_command` therefore funnelled
string commands through `execute_args`, spawning `p4 set` or
`git command` as a single argument instead of running it through a shell
as PHP does; their tests were written against that shape.
Introduce `CommandLine::{Shell, Args}` and use it for every
`ProcessExecutor` entry point, the mock expectation queue and the
`Git::run_command` callables. The unreachable "Invalid command type"
branches disappear with it, and the affected tests go back to the string
expectations the PHP suite uses.

function_exists() returns false in PHP when a function is blocked by
disable_functions, when its extension is not compiled in, or when the
PHP version predates it. None of those apply to a native binary.

PHP's PREG_PATTERN_ORDER is column-oriented, but 7 of the 10 call sites
read it row-wise, rebuilding each occurrence by indexing every column at
the same offset. Return an iterator of PregMatches instead, which is also
what the set-order and offset-capture variants were carrying, so the
three functions collapse into one and PregMatchesAll,
PregMatchesAllWithOffsets, CaptureKey and preg_match_map! all go away.
The offset-capture call sites are served by the new PregMatches
get_offset/name_offset accessors.
The search stays eager: regex::Captures borrows only the subject, so the
matches outlive the pattern resolved for the call, and PHP's
preg_match_all is eager too.

The capture groups were discarded at 162 of the preg_match call sites,
which only tested the Option. They now call preg_is_match, which lets the
regex engine skip capture tracking.

Every call site but one passed offset 0. The remaining one, the UTF-8
chunking loop in Application, slices the subject instead: its pattern has
no anchor or lookaround, so matching a suffix is equivalent to starting
the search at that offset.

Preg had shed everything it owned: after the last few rounds its methods
were one-line forwards to the shim's preg_*(), differing only in a
default argument or a wrapper the caller unwrapped anyway. The 460 call
sites now name the shim function, and shirabe-pcre is gone from the
workspace along with its LICENSE entry.
The forwards expand as they read: isMatch becomes
preg_match2(.., 0).is_some() (is_none() where PHP negates it), isMatch3
and match3 drop the .is_some(), matchAll counts through
preg_match_all2(..).occurrence_count(), and replace4/replace5 spell out
the limit and count arguments preg_replace2 takes. Callbacks are the one
place the shapes differ: preg_replace_callback carries an error out of
the callback, so the fourteen infallible closures wrap their result in
Ok() and expect() it back.
Config::process() is the fifteenth, and it drops the `error` cell it
captured to smuggle a failure past a closure that could only return a
String. The `?` in the closure now carries it, which is what the PHP
does -- a throw from the callback leaves preg_replace_callback at the
failing match rather than running the remaining replacements and
reporting the last error.
The module doc that explained why composer/pcre's exceptions and
*StrictGroups() variants have no counterpart moves to the shim's preg
module, where the functions it describes live.

PregMatches keyed both forms of a capture group through CaptureKey, so
every read built one: a usize wrapped in an enum, or worse, a String
allocated to name a group that regex::Captures can look up from a &str.
It now mirrors regex::Captures instead -- get() takes the group number,
name() the group name -- and the enum drops out of the type entirely.
That is 285 call sites across 59 files, and the named ones carry most of
the win: `matches.get(&CaptureKey::ByName("host".to_string()))` reads as
`matches.name("host")`. ProcessExecutor loses a `user_key` binding that
existed only to build the key once.
CaptureKey stays as the key type of PregMatchesAll and
PregMatchesAllWithOffsets, where numbered and named entries share one
IndexMap and a key type is the point. Five files still name it.
Also retargets the two preg_match_all comments that described the
occurrence count through `matches[&CaptureKey::ByIndex(0)].len()`, an
Index impl these types no longer carry.

is_match_named and is_match_with_indexed_captures reshaped a match into
a name-keyed map or a number-positioned vec, each allocating a String
per group up front for callers that then read one or two of them. Every
one of the eleven call sites ports a plain Preg::isMatch in PHP, so they
now call is_match3 and reach for the group they want through
get(&CaptureKey::ByIndex(N)) / get(&CaptureKey::ByName(..)), the same
way the rest of the tree already reads a match.
Falling out of that: PregNamedGroups existed only to type the first
variant; PregMatches::iter() only to build both; and PregMatches::pattern
only to give iter() the capture names. PregMatches is now a plain
wrapper over regex::Captures, so preg_replace_callback no longer clones
the resolved pattern for every match, and preg_match_map! is internal to
the shim again.
SvnDriver::get_file_content and get_change_date recover the flat
`isMatch(..) && $match[2] !== null` condition the PHP has, which the vec
shape had forced into a nested if.

|
Preg::match4 and Preg::replace_callback gave callers a
PregMatchedGroups: an IndexMap rebuilt from the match with an owned
String per group, plus a second String for a named group's name key.
That is the copy PregMatches shed when it started wrapping
regex::Captures, reinstated one layer up -- and nearly every regex call
in the tree goes through Preg rather than the shim's preg_* directly, so
almost nothing saw the borrow.
PregMatchedGroups existed only to drop the null (unmatched) groups the
old PregMatches held as Option<String> values. PregMatches::get reports
a non-participating group as None on its own, so the two read alike and
the type collapses into it. Call sites still reach groups through
get(&CaptureKey::ByIndex(N)); what changes is that the value arrives as
a &str borrowed from the subject, which the signatures now carry as a
lifetime.
Three places needed the borrow reckoned with rather than a mechanical
rewrite: PhpFileCleaner::clean and Problem::get_messages read their
groups out before mutating what the match borrows, and
Git::get_authentication_failure names the lifetime of its url argument,
which the result borrows instead of self.

`Composer\Pcre\Preg` fills `$matches` through a by-ref parameter, and the
port mirrored that with a `&mut` (or `Option<&mut>`) out-param plus a
bool or count return. Callers had to declare an empty map one line ahead
of the call, and the type never said the map is only meaningful when the
call matched. Return the matches instead:
- match3/match4/is_match3/is_match4 -> Option<PregMatchedGroups>
- is_match_named -> Option<PregNamedGroups>
- match_all2/is_match_all -> PregMatchesAll
- is_match_all_with_offsets3 -> PregMatchesAllWithOffsets
Nothing is lost: the bool is `Option::is_some()`, and the occurrence
count is the length of any one column of a PREG_PATTERN_ORDER map, now
spelled `PregMatchesAll::occurrence_count()`. is_match() still answers
the bool question directly for callers that want no groups.

The shim carried two reporting modes for the preg_* $matches maps: PHP's
default (trailing unmatched groups dropped, interior ones ""), and the
PREG_UNMATCHED_AS_NULL form, picked by calling a *_unmatched_as_null()
variant. The regex crate hands out Option<Match>, which maps onto the
null form directly, and no caller distinguished a dropped group from a
null one -- preg_match() and preg_match_all2() already reported nulls
unconditionally. Keep only the null form; the shim API no longer mirrors
PHP's flag set, which is intended.
Preg::is_match_with_indexed_captures() modelled PHP's "unset" as a
truncated Vec<String>, and now returns Vec<Option<String>>. That is what
Composer actually does: Preg::isMatch() always sets
PREG_UNMATCHED_AS_NULL, and its callers test groups with `!== null`.
preg_match_all(), preg_match_all_set_order() and
preg_split_delim_capture() still hand back Vec<String> and keep the ""
form.

|
The five IndexMap shapes that the preg_* functions and Preg fill in are
now distinct types generated by preg_match_map!, so a matches map no
longer interchanges with any other map of the same key and value type.
Index<usize> is kept alongside Index<&Q> because call sites such as
config_command and event_dispatcher reach for a group by its position in
the map rather than by its capture key.
|
|
preg_split2()'s limit was always -1 and its flags were always either 0 or
PREG_SPLIT_DELIM_CAPTURE alone, so both arguments are gone: the shim now
exposes preg_split() and preg_split_delim_capture() over a shared
preg_split_impl(). That leaves Preg::split()/split4() as bare
pass-throughs, so callers use the shim functions directly and the wrappers
are dropped along with the now-unreferenced PREG_SPLIT_* constants.

PHP's Preg::matchAll() and matchAllWithOffsets() always set
PREG_UNMATCHED_AS_NULL, so a non-participating group is `null` and its
offset is -1. The Rust wrappers collapsed those to "" and 0, so callers
could not tell a group that did not participate from one that matched an
empty string at offset 0, and the offset value matched no PHP mode at
all.
Hand the shim's representation through unchanged and let each caller
mirror what the PHP original does with it: `isset()` and `(string)`
casts stay lenient, while `assert(is_string(...))` and the
*StrictGroups() variants become `expect()`.

parse_url now returns Option<UrlComponents> instead of a PhpMixed array,
and the component-selecting overload with the PHP_URL_* constants is gone:
callers read the field they want. Two call sites change behaviour as a
result, both towards PHP:
* CurlDownloader::handle_redirect tested scheme and host with is_null(), so
an unparsable Location header (PhpMixed::Bool(false)) counted as an
absolute URL. PHP's truthiness test sends it to the relative-path branch.
* Url::get_origin appended a literal port 0, which PHP treats as falsy and
leaves off.

Porting mapped every PHP `protected` member onto `pub(crate)`, which is
wider than nearly all of them need. Each item demoted here is reached
only from the module that defines it, so the crate-wide visibility
conveyed nothing.
Every `pub(crate)` that survives has at least one reader in another
module of the same crate.

The binary called itself Composer everywhere: the application name, the
logo, --version, about, and every warning that talks about the running
program. Prompts to file a bug also pointed at Composer's issue tracker.
Add SHIRABE_VERSION and SHIRABE_RELEASE_DATE next to the Composer version
constants and report those, naming the Composer version this port tracks
alongside them. Composer::VERSION and getVersion() are untouched, so the
composer platform package, composer-runtime-api and the HTTP User-Agent
keep the value plugins and package repositories expect.
build.rs stamps the release date with the UTC date of the HEAD commit,
the way Composer's Compiler fills in @release_date@ when building the
phar. It now also fails the build when git cannot be read, instead of
letting COMPOSER_DEV_WARNING_TIME fall back to the tagged-release value
and suppress the outdated-build warning forever.
Messages about the Composer ecosystem keep their wording. Two of them are
pinned by upstream installer fixtures (Rule's "cannot be modified by
Composer" and SolverProblemsException's "you can run Composer with") and
stay as they are so those fixtures can keep being used verbatim.
The e2e list comparison against upstream Composer now skips the banner,
which cannot match by design, and compares everything below it as before.

The shim reported a fixed PHP 8.1.0 through PHP_VERSION, PHP_VERSION_ID,
the major/minor/release triple and the PHP_WINDOWS_VERSION_* trio. Their
uses split in two.
Some guarded branches PHP only needs on runtimes this port cannot be:
proc_get_status reports the exit status on every call, so Symfony's
pre-8.3 exit-code cache has nothing to work around; hash_raw and
hash_file always offer xxh3, so the sha1 fallback is unreachable; and
http_get_last_response_headers is always available, so the pre-8.4
$http_response_header branch is gone. safeJunctions reads the host
Windows version rather than PHP state, and joins the Windows work on
hold.
The rest ask about the PHP the user actually runs, and now reach the
worker through a new php-rpc PhpVersion payload: the startup banner and
the 7.2.5 warning, self-update's min-php filter, the ext-*
recommendation in VersionSelector, the stream User-Agent, and whether
PhpFileParser scans for enums.

fileperms swallowed metadata errors and reported a mode of 0, which the
callers could not tell apart from a real (if implausible) mode: the zip
archiver stored entries with no permission bits, and Filesystem::copy
chmod-ed the target to 0. It now returns Result<u32, io::Error> so both
callers propagate the failure. The switch to u32 also drops the casts
around the mode arithmetic and ZipArchive's entry attributes.

The shim reported setExternalAttributesName as missing, so ZipArchiver took
the branch for libzip below 0.11.2 and every archived entry got the zip
crate's default mode. The attributes now travel as arguments to add_file and
add_empty_dir, because the crate fixes an entry's external attributes when
the entry is started and offers no way to amend one already written.
unix_permissions keeps only the low 9 mode bits, on top of which the crate
restores S_IFREG and S_IFDIR, so setuid/setgid/sticky bits and other file
types are still dropped.

PharArchiver::archive catches only `\UnexpectedValueException` and wraps
it in a `\RuntimeException` naming the target and sources; anything else
leaves the method as it was thrown. The port wrapped every error, so the
two `\RuntimeException('Can not compress to %s format')` raised inside
the `try` came back out with a second message around them and their code
replaced. Reading the message and code off the caught exception rather
than off whatever arrived also drops the guesswork the old `map_or(0, ..)`
had to do.

Composer hands the exception it caught to the one it throws in its place,
so `getPrevious()` reaches the cause and Application's renderer prints the
whole chain. Every ported site dropped it, because the flat exception
structs had nowhere to put one. `AnyThrowable::into_previous` turns the
caught error into that argument, and the 13 sites now pass it.
`getCode()` came along for the ride at the four sites that derive the new
exception's code from the caught one (PharArchiver, ArrayLoader x2), and
ComposerRepository's message now names the caught exception's class
instead of the literal "Exception".
GitHubDriver::attemptCloneFallback took the previous exception's message
and appended it to its own, which no `\RuntimeException('Fallback to git
driver disabled')` in Composer ever says; it now chains it instead.
Git::syncMirror restores what PHP's `finally` does to an exception in
flight: the `git remote set-url` that scrubs credentials back out of the
URL runs in a `finally`, and when it fails PHP propagates *its* exception
over the one already leaving, chaining the displaced one as previous. The
port discarded the finally's result, so a failure to scrub the URL was
reported as a successful mirror sync. `AnyThrowable::set_previous`
models the engine-level chaining.

Ported exceptions were flat structs reached with `downcast_ref`, so
Composer's `catch (\RuntimeException $e)` only matched the exact leaf
type and `get_class($e)` had nothing to report. Each exception now
embeds an instance of the class it extends and travels inside an
`AnyThrowable`; `Catch::catch`/`catch_mut` walk that chain, and
`PhpClass::php_class_name` yields the PHP FQCN.
Dropping the `std::error::Error` impls from the exception types leaves
`AnyThrowable` as the only route into an `anyhow::Error`, so the walk
cannot be bypassed. A `no_exception_downcast` linter catches the
`downcast::<X>()` calls that would now silently answer `None`.
Three sites change behavior as a result: the `TransportException`
exit-code override reaches `MaxFileSizeExceededException`, the
`catch (\LogicException)` in findSimilar() reaches its subclasses, and
rendered exception titles carry the real class name rather than a
guess. `get_class_err()` is no longer a `todo!()`, which re-enables
FilesystemRepositoryTest::testCorruptedRepositoryFile.

PHP's version_compare takes its operator as a string, so the shim's port
did too, and Constraint carried two families of operator constants plus
translation tables to convert between the string form and its own int
codes. Five copies of those tables had accumulated across Constraint,
CompilingMatcher and the plugin value bridge.
version_compare now takes a CmpOp, which makes an invalid operator
unrepresentable and removes the tables' reason to exist. Constraint
stores a CmpOp and keeps only the string parsing its constructor needs;
getOperator, compile and CompilingMatcher::match speak CmpOp as well.
PHP's OP_* numbering stays observable: a plugin reads the raw integer off
the Constraint object over RPC, so get_operator_constant and its new
inverse hold that 0..5 mapping.

|
|
AliasPackage, CompleteAliasPackage and RootAliasPackage now have generated
proxy stubs, so a package handed to a plugin no longer has to be a real
package: it crosses as the stub matching its concrete variant, answers
getAliasOf / setRootPackageAlias / isRootPackageAlias /
hasSelfVersionRequires, and can be constructed from plugin code.
The setters RootPackageInterface declares are routed through that interface
for every root package instead of through the base Package state. Only the
alias variant needs it -- RootAliasPackage overrides all nine to write
through to the package it aliases -- but a real RootPackage delegates to the
same base state either way, so both take one path.
An alias of an alias has no representation here, so narrowing the
constructor argument to a real package is an explicit error rather than a
silent demotion.

Call sites whose haystack was an inline array of literals (or a local
built solely to feed one) had to wrap both sides in PhpMixed just to
compare, allocating a String per element on every call. matches! does
the same test against the underlying &str/i64/Option directly, so the
PhpMixed round trip and its .to_string()/.clone()/.iter().map()
conversions are gone.
Sites whose haystack is a runtime value or a named constant array are
left on in_array_strict: inlining a named constant would duplicate its
contents at the call site.

The shim's filesystem entry points took `&str` even though each one resolves
to a local path through `std::fs` or a syscall, so callers holding a `PathBuf`
had to stringify it at the call site. They now take `impl AsRef<Path>`, the
form `file_exists`, `is_dir`, `unlink` and the rest of the already-converted
set use.
`Phar`, `PharData` and `ZipArchive` keep their archive path as a `PathBuf`.
`PharData::compress` names the compressed sibling by appending the suffix to
the file name rather than formatting the path into a `String`.
Arguments PHP resolves through a stream wrapper (`fopen`, `file_put_contents`,
`include`) still take `&str`, as do the byte-string operations (`dirname`,
`basename`, `pathinfo`) and archive-internal entry names, which are `/`-joined
logical names rather than OS paths.

graph in ways the proxy did not answer: the download manager and the config,
the writable repository methods, a React promise as its own return value, and
`new Package(...)` from its supports() path.
* `Composer::getConfig`/`getDownloadManager` are dispatched, and both classes
become generated proxy stubs. Their reads and mutators answer from the Rust
entity; the surfaces needing stubs of their own (ConfigSourceInterface,
DownloaderInterface) stay explicit errors.
* The download manager's futures are driven to completion and handed back as
already-settled React promises, since PHP declares a non-nullable
PromiseInterface there. A promise a plugin returns is drained the same way:
settled yields its value, rejected re-raises, pending is an explicit error.
* Proxy stubs now carry the real class's constructor and ask the Rust side to
allocate the entity; reviving a stub for an existing entity binds the handle
without running it. Classes Rust cannot build name themselves in the error.
* The package proxy covers `Package`'s own setters, `CompletePackage`'s
metadata, `RootPackage`'s root-only state, and `BasePackage::$id`.
Link values and release dates still have no wire image, so the methods
carrying them remain explicit errors.

PHP's `(array)` cast passes an array through unchanged, but the port only
matched the map shape and wrapped a JSON list (e.g. ["MIT"]) as a single
license value, which then failed the is-string check and was silently
dropped from composer.lock / installed.json with a bogus warning.

Three fixes for the ComposerRepository/FilesystemRepository/PlatformRepository
hazards where inner-composition delegation skipped PHP's late-bound virtual
dispatch:
- ComposerRepository::has_package now builds its packageMap through the
late-bound getPackages() equivalent, so lazy-providers repos surface the
LogicException and available-packages repos load their package list, as in
PHP, instead of silently answering false from the raw array.
- RepositoryInterface::get_repo_name returns anyhow::Result<String>: PHP's
getRepoName() counts through the late-bound initialize(), which is fallible
in file-reading subclasses. FilesystemRepository and PackageRepository now
run that initialization instead of freezing the inner array repository to an
empty state (which also made a later write() truncate installed.json).
Supporting changes keep the initialization chain callable from &self:
JsonFile::read takes &self (indent moved into a RefCell), FilesystemRepository
dev_mode became a Cell, and WritableArrayRepository dev_package_names a
RefCell.
- PlatformRepository::new routes constructor packages through its own
add_package so the override handling and full platform initialization run
as they do via PHP's parent constructor; the inner find_package/add_package
delegations inside add_package (and ComposerRepository::add_package) gained
the same is_initialized guard, since the constructor path would otherwise
freeze the repository.
Same defect class as 7db937af, 97b5211a and 3e367f78.

PHP's JsonFile::encode throws a RuntimeException when json_encode fails; the
port swallowed that into an .unwrap() marked TODO(phase-c). Return
anyhow::Result from encode/encode_with_options and propagate at every call
site (print_table and list_repositories become Result-returning to carry it).

The only callers were trivial fixed-format uses: reading the first
four hash bytes as a native int, splitting in_addr byte strings, and
building a constant ZIP EOCD record. Each site now does the byte
manipulation directly, so the general-purpose shims are no longer
needed.

Glob::toRegex emits PCRE-only constructs — the (?=[^\.]) look-ahead for
the strict-leading-dot rule, the possessive [^/]++ in /**/ segments,
and, via BaseExcludeFilter, the (?=$|/) dir-boundary look-ahead — which
the regex crate cannot compile, so `archive` and every
ArchivableFilesFinder path panicked. Rewrite the port to tokenize the
glob (mirroring the PHP loop's dispatch) and resolve every no-dot
constraint by recursive union expansion. The dir boundary must take
part in that expansion (a trailing `*` matching zero characters drops
the constraint onto the boundary itself), so BaseExcludeFilter now uses
the new Glob::to_regex_dir_boundary instead of string surgery.
Equivalence was verified against PHP 8.5.8 (vendored Glob.php +
preg_match) over 66,176 glob x flag x subject combinations with zero
divergence. Un-ignores the five archiver tests blocked on this and
updates GitExcludeFilterTest's expected pattern text, an explicitly
authorized exception to the no-test-modification rule.

Adopt the tar, flate2, and bzip2 crates to fill in the phar.rs and
compress.rs todos: PharData tar/zip reading, building, and whole-archive
compression, plus a native .phar reader that follows the php.net
file-format manual and verifies hash-based signatures. Callers now
propagate the constructor/extract errors PHP throws, and fwrite accepts
byte strings so gzread no longer needs lossy UTF-8.
The native .phar writing API stays todo!() (no call sites; Composer's
Compiler is not ported) and OPENSSL phar signatures are accepted
unverified (TODO(phase-c)).
This unblocks Tar::getComposerJson and the tar/phar/gzip downloaders;
tar_test (7), artifact_repository_test (2), and phar_archiver_test zip
(1) are un-ignored. The archive command itself still panics because
ArchiveManager::archive always generates glob excludes whose look-ahead
regexes the regex crate cannot compile; converting those patterns to
regex-compatible ones is a separate, still-undecided work item.
